Our current use of technology, in both the workplace and socially, are leading to a rapid rise in people experiencing neck, shoulder and back strain, changed physical structure and pain.
People working in positions that encourage looking down for long periods of time, put great strain on their necks. Not only are the muscles being overworked, but bones in the spine and the nerves within them, are sitting in extreme positions for extended periods that they weren’t designed to cope with.
The term Text Neck has been coined to cover injuries resulting from mobile phone use and medical professionals such as physiotherapists are seeing a rush of new clients suffering with this condition.
Tech Neck is an equally appropriate term for the strain resulting from similar unnatural body positions using all our tech devices – laptops, tablets, desktops etc.
“Outdoor Offices” where people twist and lean can lead to even more strain on not just the neck but right down the whole back. In fact it was this sort of laptop use that led to Rack Your Tech’s first product – see the “About” tab.
We all know that your office desk should be setup with the computer monitor at eye level, but how many of us really attend to that? It is very easy to work in a poor position and for a long time we don’t feel anything bad – the body can take quite a lot of punishment. But these injuries creep up on us over time and eventually poor posture and the strain from it becomes permanent and noticeable – painful.
So how does Rack Your Tech help?
We design racks that help raise your tech devices so you don’t have to look down as dramatically! Relieving your neck strain and letting you enjoy what you’re doing more – oh and being more productive too….
